Abdominal Wall

Hernia

Surgery "WITHOUT SCARS".

Laparoscopic surgery (mini incisions) can replace large incisions.

Objective:

Treat the hernia effectively, with minimal pain, faster recovery, and no visible scars,

Which hernia can we treat:

Inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, epigastric hernia, incisional hernia, among others...

Abdominal Wall Hernia

A hernia is defined as the abnormal exit of a viscera or part of the viscera beyond its limits, through a defect or weakness in the walls of the cavity that contains it or through a natural, accidental or pathological orifice. As the name implies, a hernia of the abdominal wall is an abnormal profusion of the viscera caused by a defect in the same wall. Treatment is always indicated.

Laparoscopic surgery has earned its place in hernia treatment as it is safe and effective, with minimal pain and invisible scarring.

HERNIA SURGERY
What type of hernia can I have?

Various types of  hernia  of the abdominal wall

HERNIAS ARE VERY FREQUENT

Inguinal hernia and femoral hernia (inguinal region), umbilical hernia, epigastric hernia (midline above the umbilicus), incisional hernia (in anterior scars), are the most common types of hernias. However, there are other types of hernias that need treatment.

What are the clinical manifestations?

Negative impact on daily life

MAY BE DISABLING

Usually the hernia presents itself as a local swelling, which can appear with effort and  to vanish  with rest, it may cause abdominal pain or just local pain.

Can it have serious consequences?
intestinal necrosis

INCARCERATION AND STRANGULATION

Yes! Abdominal wall hernias can trap (exteriorize and not return to the cavity), and can strangle (herniated viscera loses vascularization and necrosis). These situations require urgent treatment, eventually with bowel resection.

Do I have to be operated on?
Surgical treatment is always indicated

SURGERY IS THE ONLY TREATMENT

All hernias must always be operated on. The risk of strangulation is greatest in the first three months. With advancing time, the hernia increases in volume, the orifice gets bigger and bigger, which can make the treatment unfeasible as it is no longer possible to reduce the hernia or safely close the orifice. Therefore, all hernias must be operated on as soon as possible.

Is a prosthesis (net) used?
Nowadays it is the most common

TO GET GOOD RESULTS

Depending on the type of hernia and the size of the hole, it is common to use a prosthesis. Its use makes it possible to minimize the risk of recurrence. The place where the net is placed should also be taken into account for best results.

LESS PAIN AND BETTER AESTHETICS

Laparoscopic surgery effectively treats the hernia through small incisions that become virtually invisible. This type of surgery allows placing the net in the best position, with minimal pain and faster recovery. Two of the advantages of laparoscopy are the lower risk of infection and chronic pain.

"I had an operation for an umbilical hernia. I am very happy with the final result."

Laparoscopic hernia surgery offers a safe and effective treatment, with minimal pain and rapid recovery, with less risk of infection and less risk of chronic postoperative pain.

"I had practically no pain and recovered quickly. Scars? I don't even see them."
